I recently watched Screamers and read The Collected Stories of Philip K. Dick (The Minority Report).
The robots are coming. What a great collection of short stories — especially Autofac where humans built gigantic autonomous & self-replicating factories to secure production “of consumer goods” during atomic war. The self-replicating robots were launching themselves around the planet, using up all the resources. After humanity mostly beat the robots, they found another little "seed" factory, still shooting little robot seeds around the planet. The main character saw the little seed machines self-reproducing and was more entertained than concerned even though he knew humanity had lost the long game.
